Hello Everyone, 

 

A friendly reminder for students who are attending ACS national and/or regional meetings, travel support is available through the UPLS:

The Upper Peninsula Section invites students who have presentations accepted at ACS national or regional meetings and who are in need of travel assistance to apply for Financial Support of Student Presenters.  Any student wishing to participate in this reimbursement shall notify the Treasurer not less than thirty (30) days before the travel, with a) name b) presentation type, oral or poster, c) presentation title, and d) ACS meeting and division scheduling presentation, presentation number, and date and time of presentation.  Please email info@chem-consult.com with "Prop B" in the subject line.  The student presenter must submit to the Treasurer travel/housing receipts, name of payee, and mailing address not more than fifteen (15) days after the conclusion of the meeting.

On January 1, 2016, UPLS had $22,503.76 and anticipates $10,600 income (from ACS annual allocation, councilor travel reimbursement, grants, and other sources) and budgeted expenses $16,000 (councilor travel, member and student travel, meeting expenses, and donations), giving a projected December 31, 2016 balance of $17,103.76. UPLS is required to maintain reserves of at least 150% of its annual allocation (currently $5,408). UPLS is in excellent financial shape and has the tangible resources to carry out its mission in the Upper Peninsula.UPLS Financial Report
